Top 5 Non-Park Manhattan Locations for Your Spring/Summer Photoshoots!
Getting ready for a spring or summer photoshoot? Consider these five (non-park!) Manhattan locations for your next session!
South Street Seaport
South Street Seaport is a favorite location for both myself and Briar Rose Photo Co! The vibrant colors of the water, boats, and shops create the perfect backdrop for iconic portraits.
Explore the waterfront and have your photos taken with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. The historic Wavertree, docked at the seaport, provides an adorable nautical setting. Wander through the charming streets of the seaport, where beautiful shops and cobblestone paths add a timeless charm to your photos.
During the spring and summer, the flowers hanging from lampposts are always freshly updated, enhancing any color palette. It’s a real treat to visit the seaport during warmer seasons, so be sure to take advantage as it can quickly get cooler by the water in early fall.
Tribeca Streets & Waterfront:
Start your photoshoot on one of Tribeca’s most iconic (and most photographed!) cobblestone streets, like Staple Street. The charming, narrow alley with its iron bridge is perfect for capturing timeless and unique shots. As you wander through this historic neighborhood, you’ll find an array of picturesque spots, from the elegant cast-iron buildings to the lush greenery of its small parks.
Make your way toward the Hudson River, where we can capture stunning images against the backdrop of the NYC skyline. The view of the iconic Freedom Tower soaring above the city is a must-have shot. The waterfront area offers a serene and scenic setting, perfect for showcasing the very best of the city.
Whether it’s the quaint streets or the expansive views of the river and skyline, Tribeca offers a diverse range of backdrops that highlight the unique character and beauty of New York City.
Highline & The Whitney Museum:
Explore the High Line’s unique views, lush greenery, and vibrant flowers. This elevated park, built on a historic freight rail line, blends urban and natural beauty, offering countless photo opportunities.
After your High Line adventure, take a stroll to the Whitney Museum of American Art. The museum’s sleek design and the surrounding classic brick and neutral buildings create an ideal backdrop for family and branding photos.
Don’t miss the chance for a quintessential New York City taxi cab shot just off the High Line on the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District. This neighborhood combines historic charm with contemporary flair, perfect for capturing the vibrant spirit of NYC.
From the lush High Line to the artistic Whitney and the charming Meatpacking District, this area offers diverse settings that highlight the unique essence of New York City.
Sutton Place:
Discover Sutton Place’s quieter, picturesque streets and newly developed waterfront. Pose with the iconic Queensboro Bridge, or turn around to capture downtown city views. Sutton Place, once home to celebrities like Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn, boasts stunning architecture and a rich history.
One of my favorite backgrounds in Sutton Place is a dusty pink building located in the heart of the neighborhood. Its unique color and architecture make for stunning photo backdrops.
Additionally, a Sutton Place session can include an exclusive MRP rooftop backdrop option, perfect for family photo sessions or headshots. This rooftop offers a beautiful view of the city skyline, adding a contemporary and elegant touch to your photos.
West Village:
Experience the charm of the West Village, where hidden gardens and photogenic streets await around every corner. Each backdrop is unique, offering the possibility of capturing One World Trade Center in the distance as you casually cross the street.
In the spring, the tree-lined streets boast their newly formed leafy exteriors, with flowers cascading over brick walls, just waiting to be photographed. The neighborhood’s historic architecture and quaint streets provide a picturesque setting for capturing the essence of New York City.
